Are Bessey clamps any good? ›

Bessey parallel clamps performed the best overall taking everything into consideration. Price, build quality, drop test, clamping pressure, and warranty. Bessey has the highest rated clamping pressure out of any of those tested at 1,700 pounds. The build quality on the Bessey clamps is very good.

It is measured from the inside of the rail to the centre of the spindle. The width and thickness of the rail is measured. The larger the rail cross-section, the greater the possible clamping force.

Primarily made in Germany, hand tools and accessories from Bessey Tools have earned a reputation for quality that comes from 130 years of precision German engineering and craftsmanship.

Using Calipers

Use calipers to measure the outside diameter (O.D.) of the hose and fitting application with the hose assembled on the pipe or tube fitting as shown in illustration 1A. Use this measurement to specify the nominal clamp size.

As for glue on Bessey clamps, I always put Masking tape on the clamp bar where I expect squeeze out and have never had a problem.

This method of cleaning clamps is pretty straightforward: apply hot water to the areas with dried glue, either with a wet rag or towel, and scrape the glue off with a chisel or putty knife once the glue has softened enough. This may take a few tries, depending on how hard the glue is.

If you use too much clamping pressure, a couple of bad things could happen. The first (and most obvious) is that you'll squeeze too much glue out of your joints. Once what's left of it dries, the bond won't be as strong as it could have been.
